Gateway pipe the first choice for family-owned Southland company Superior Farm Maintenance
“Gateway pipe definitely stands up to the test of time,” says Superior Farm Maintenance founder and co-owner Matt Wilson
And Matt knows what he is talking about — his family-owned farm maintenance business has been using the pipes since the company was established five years ago, and he first began using the product more than 15 years ago.
“They’re a good, affordable option. We use them a lot for flow underneath dairy lanes and to manage surface water. They’re just a good, solid pipe that is pretty indestructible.”
Operating in Southland and parts of Otago, Superior Farm Maintenance provides development and maintenance of farming properties including earthworks and farm drainage.
“There are a lot of reasons we use Gateway: availability, price, it’s easy to install, good flow and it’s also got plenty of flex and give in it.”
Before the Gateway PVC culvert pipe was available, Matt says he often worked with concrete culverts which led to problems that are easily avoided with plastic pipes.
“We used to do a lot of stuff with concrete culverts back in the day, before the PVC option was available, but you just can’t beat the longer lengths of a plastic pipe. With a concrete pipe, when you have flooding you get washing out and erosion around the pipes, then the pipes slump and sink. You just don’t get those issues with the longer lengths of the plastic pipe.”
The decision to use Gateway pipe is not just about the product performance and price though.
“A lot of it is down to P&F Global’s customer service — the people make a real difference, like Caren [Constable] who looks after us. Everyone’s approachable, nothing’s a problem, the product is delivered to site, it all happens promptly and you don’t have to worry. You can’t fault it.”
Choosing the right products and delivering a great service to the customers who choose Superior Farm Maintenance is important to Matt.
“We’re not operators coming from other fields into the farming sector. We have been brought up doing farm work, we were brought up on farms ourselves, and you can’t beat that background and knowledge. We strive to put that into our finished products and you can see that in our work and the results we deliver because when we take on a job we really understand the task that needs to be achieved.”
